2020 marks the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife
In order to recognize the work of nurses and midwives around the world and advocate for increased investment in this workforce, and improvements in working conditions, education and professional development, this year has been designated the international year of nurses and midwives by the World Health Assembly.

Implementation workshop of the WHO Guidelines on regulatory preparedness for pandemic influenza vaccines 
National health authorities from pandemic influenza preparedness target countries: Bolivia, Guyana, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Peru, in addition to Chile and El Salvador, participated at the “Implementation workshop of the WHO Guidelines on regulatory preparedness for provision of marketing authorization of human pandemic influenza vaccines in non-vaccine producing countries”.

Caribbean countries advance in the development of the Plan of Action on Donation and Equitable Access to Transplants 2019 to 2030 
Representatives from Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Guyana and Jamaica, participated in a meeting, held in La Habana, Cuba, on 18 November 2019, to discuss the development of the sub regional network of Caribbean countries to advance in the strengthening and developing of nationals Plan of Action on Donation and Equitable Access to Organ, Tissue, and Cell Transplants 2019-2030.

National Regulatory Authorities of the Region participate in the Single Medical Device Audit Program Forum: towards to regulatory efficiency

Call for Contributions: WHO's Public Consultation on Human Genome Editing
The World Health Organization has established an Expert Advisory Committee to make recommendations on appropriate governance mechanisms for human genome editing. As part of the process of developing a governance framework, the Committee calls for contributions to the draft governance framework. The deadline to provide comments in English is 7 February 2020.
