With the Americas failing to control coronavirus, many hospitals are at or close to capacity, PAHO director says
The Region of the Americas must intensify public health interventions on social distancing, limiting gatherings, wearing masks and hand washing to limit exposure to the COVID-19 pandemic, Pan American Health Organization Director Carissa F. Etienne said.

WHO calls for experts for COVID-19 Technical Advisory Group  
The World Health Organization is seeking experts to serve as members of the Technical Advisory Group on the COVID-19 Technology Access Pool (C-TAP). C-TAP is an open source global mechanism for pooling knowledge, data, and intellectual property related to COVID-19 health technologies in order to scale up production, availability and affordability.

Caribbean Public Health Agency/Caribbean Regulatory System and PAHO Agree to Share Non-Public Information Related to Medicines and Biologics
In December 2020, the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA)/the Caribbean Regulatory System (CRS) signed an agreement with PAHO to share information, including non-public information, on products that have been recommended by PAHO for procurement processes through the PAHO Strategic Fund.

The meeting of Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officers explored how countries of the Region are working to strengthen and invest in the nursing workforce in terms of education, retention, labor market and regulation as well as to discuss national plans, policies and initiatives, in the present and future.
